Another forum I am on had a little meet and greet up on Dale Hollow lake (Northern central TN), so I made it up there early Friday morning. The weather was ROUGH. Cold, rain, lotsa wind. Fished a little bit Friday morning with just one little 8 inch spot on a Spanky's jig. Friday afternoon yielded me nothing but numbness from the cold. Sat. morning was the same way. Nothing, and the cold drove me in fairly quick. Sat. evening was a completely different story. The wind had slowed down to a mild breeze. Enough left to not be still, and kill the fishing, but slackened enough that it wasn't a cold wind. Temp was still in the 40s. I ended up catching 4 smallies, the first four I had ever caught, having never done much fishing North of here. The first one turned out to be a good one. Fought him for quite a while, and went clear around the boat 3 times, all the while regretting my choice of 10 lb fluoro. Managed to get it into the boat. I figure that is the best way to catch my first smally. Weighed 4 lbs, 6 oz. The last white mark on the red ruler in the picture is 18 inches. Sunday didn't yeild anything, but more cold. All of my fish were caught on a 1/4 oz. spanky's jig, with Zoom trailer.

Dawson, Awesome smallie bud. Definitely a fish to be proud of. What was the water temp up there?

Those are some awesome pics, Dawson! I used to live on the East side of Nashville and we couldn't wait until the temps dropped and the weather got nasty. The smallies love it that way! Once you boat a smallie like that it gets in your blood and you can't get rid of it. It's sort of like a cancer that just keeps eating away at ya year after year! ;D
