My wife and I just relocated from MN to Acworth. There it was "Walleyes, Smallies, Northerns, and Muskies", but I'm finding here it is "Bass and Crappie", with the exception of Carters Lake, which I'm excited to hear has walleye. I like to fish to fish, so I guess the species isn't all that important. I'm currently w/o a boat, but look forward to having one this next spring.
Bottom line: I couldn't see living this close to a body of water w/o finding something out about it. I look forward to learning some things about bass fishing in general (and in the South in particular) from you guys.

Dang lots of folks relocating to Georgia lately . Welcome cnewmango. In the general area our lakes are mostly 90% spots and 10% largemouth. Blue Ridge also has wally's as does Lanier and as you mentioned Carters. Very few fish for Wally's here in the South. Blue Ridge has a good many smallmouth and by far your best chance for a smallie in GA. Don't let the spots scare ya. They are very simliar in respect to smallmouth. Same techniques and tactics will work. Our waters a good bit clearer and deeper than most MN lakes. Glad to see you on the forum . HOpe you stick around and participate where you can Mike My wife and I just relocated from MN to Acworth. My wife is originally from Macon and her sister lives here in Acworth. Believe it or not, the job market is better here. I am going to truly miss ice fishing though - I'll get by.
What is the difference between a Spot and a Largemouth? I've fished for Shoal Bass down by Grey/Macon, but I'm unclear about what a Spotted Bass is. Charlie
