The campout idea I'm sorry to say just did not work out. However we were able to reserve Shelter "A" at Coopers Furnace on the river below the dam for a cookout and get togeather on Saturday October 27th. If you have never been there it is truly a scenic place on the river with playgrounds for the kids and I believe volleyball and horseshoe pits. I'm thinking to make it simple we could do a shrimp boil (shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, carrots, green beans) with hot dogs for the kids. Depending on how many of you attend I could probably buy all of the food for around $5.00 each. We could make it an early afternoon to early evening affair with supper around 6:00. I'm open to any an all ideas on what to eat or what time to meet. We have the shelter reserved for the entire day at this time.
Terrell Stoves with the USACE and Jim Hakala with the DNR will attend to meet everyone and get ideas for next years areas to cut. They will also somehow dispurse the gifts that they received from Bass Pro and Walmart. I have no idea of how much they have, what it is or how they will dispurse those items.
Please post here if you will attend, how many you will bring and any other ideas that you may have.

That is a gorgeous area! I take the family there from time to time, we love it. I'll be there, most likely with family in tow. I'll have to eat hot dogs with the kids though, allergic to shrimp, but that's fine with me.

Anyway that Louisianna country boy might try and sneak some of those clawed shrimp into the pot. ;D

Just thought that I would let you know that I am working on some special events to take place before the evening meal, but you won't want to miss it. More details to come later, right now I have to pack for a storm heading to the Gulf coast.
