Can i put a 185 horse motor on a 17.5' bass boat

You can put a 200 on your 17.5 foot boat. Question is do you wish to insure it? I'm also unsure of the laws on that but I know you won't be able to insure it if the motor exceeds the MAX HP requirements of the hull.

Robert, most tournaments will not allow an overpowered (HP exceeds boat mfg spec). Logically, that is a foolish thing to do. That motor would be too much to handle on your boat.

Bob is correct. No tournament organization will allow you to fish with an over powered boat. You could probable fish pot tournament but any BASS, FLW, or ABA sponsored tournament will not allow you to use you boat.

I got a 04 Yahama 60 hp, I had some maintance done on it the other day. they put a diagnostic test on it and said it had 83 hours on the motor. I think thats low and in good shape , what say you? Larry gofishing008
