From what I read on the board, liability is an issue with the Corps of Engineers and rightfully so. We as a people are a litigious bunch. For several years I participated in SCCA race, rally and Solo 2 events, we purchased liability insurance for these events and it was not expensive. I have no idea what it might cost now it might be worth looking to. If we could go to the COE with $1,000,000 worth of "Special Event" insurance in hand it might help. We used to pay $200 per year and $3.00 per participant per event. If that has gone up 5 fold it's still reasonable. Participants had to sign Insurance form to be covered.
Just a thought.

Jeff, I think the COE Liability issue is not only with construction of the ramp but later on down the road if that ramp should fail and seriously injure someone. They want some one to be liable for that. The first person named on the Lawsuit would be the COE and the second would be the construction company of the ramp.
If Discovery evidence shows that the ramp was made to COE standards, then the COE is liable, If it shows the ramp was not made to COE standards then its the construction company in a nutshell.

Ron, I think Jeff wasnt eluding to our ramp project but projects with the Corp as a whole. Right now we are just in a talking mode with Red Top.

I saw on the news last week that some "civilians" were going to extend a ramp on Lanier.
