Well.. I just hope that the Corp doesn't get upset and pull the plug on the project because of some idiot out there cutting the ropes.

there was a couple in the back of Coopers creek on Friday 3-21 We did not cut any in Cooper Branch this year so if those trees were cut, somewhere else cut them. The trees we cut are usually live pine trees and some deciduous trees like gum. All the trees we cut sunk like a rock and the only thing that is going to move them is a boat. This time of year there will be dead trees floating from the lake coming up and the upper end of the lake right now has some trees up to 30-40' long floating around. Usually after a couple of good winds come through those trees will be pushed into the backs of the coves.

You may not have cut them , but there are live ( fresh cut ) pine trees back there floating , with the same red and or yellow rope you all used ...... seems like a long way to drag a tree that was cut in stamp or macasky creek, and past the ranger station?? not real bright .

Hawk18, Something doesn't add up here. I don't say that to discredit you or your report in any way!! But, we did cut trees in Cooper's in January of last year, it was the first area that was cut when we began this project. This area was cut with the men of the COE and DNR along with the Team Leader's. All of those tree's were secured properly, but no red rope was used there in Cooper's. And as I stated they were cut over a year ago so none would be "fresh cut". Also the vast majority of the trees we cut there hit dry ground not water at the time of the cutting. Therefore they should have becomed completely water logged as the water came up last year. Also I have fished that area many times in the last year and have paid close attention to those trees as I did so and none of them at any time appeared to have moved at all. Indeed from my observations they did exactly as we had anticipated, which is to remain firmly on the bottom in the place that they landed. Also while I have no prood of this, I would be willing to surmise that many of their branches have some degree of silt covering them by now making it even harder for them to float away. Could you ellaborate as to precisly where in Cooper you saw these floaters so that I can investigate it farther. Also is it possible that these were trees that were still at the shoreline with the yellow rope we used in Cooper's still attached with just part of the tree expossed from the base. Again I mean no disrespect, but this just does not add up in my mind.

No problem , as I stated we saw them in the middle of the creek all the way in the back , we had to squeeze past one just to get to the shallows , ( on the right side ) going in where the road goes by on the other side . I will be on the lake today or tomorrow , and I can take some pics . I was only informing as to what was asked.

We did use red and yellow roap during the Feb cut so it sounds like someone is going to alot of trouble to move these trees around which can only hurt this program.

None of the trees are from this years cutting. Someone has cut a couple of trees from last year loose. All loose trees were retied to the bank. Several broke loose from their stump and severaql others were cut. I think we retied 8 or 9 trees in all.

Yes Ray all were in Coopers. We did see some trees in Stamps Creek floating at the bank. They were the result of the storms. None of the trees that we saw in Stamps were from what was just cut.
