In years past I've had problems with my merc water pressure guage freezing up after a cold spell. For the past two years I've hung a light bulb under the guages and place my boat cover over the area. So far it's worked and kept the guage working after < 20 degree weather. But is there a easy way to put a bleed valve in the line to keep it from freezing and killing the guage?

vhype , The water gets up the tube too far over time and gets to the gauge. I would suggest that you take the hose off of the back of the gauge and blow the water out ofthe tube and re connect it. The next step if you have enough slack in your hose/tube is make a loop back at the battery compartment so that the water, if it gets that far, should not pass the loop. Make sure that the loop is vertical so that the water hopefully won't go through the loop. If you do this and the problem still occurs then you might have a small pin hole in the system. Maybe in the hose/tube or the gauge it's self.

Finally, lost my wp gauge, first time I've had a problem. guess I'll be following some advice given before. When I replace this gauge, I'm gonna get a Tee fitting between the motor and gauge with a valve that I can open and close below the Tee. When Temps are gunna be cold and boat is sitting I can open the valve to relieve pressure and drain water. hope this helps. Good Idea on the loop Anthony!!
