Just stumble across the site, looks good! I am now living far away from the great bassin of the Great Lakes, but there still is an incredible untouched fishery out here on the CAN west coast.............will always have a soft spot for smallies, esp. on the old reliable hair, and love readin everything I can and keeping in touch with what's happening all over. Someday I gotta try stickin some spots Ryan and Mike kept tellin me about! Mike you still got those crazy hook sets? Al P.

Good buddy thanks, eh! Thanks for keeping me up on things, appreciate all your posts all over. Na, didn't completely loose my mind, flights back there are cheap, AND as I was eluding to, the bass fishery out here is untouched(.bass is a dirty word out here in trout country). Got some 7+'s out of Erie and many a Simcoe monster, but got my personal best out here!?! See I didn't loose my mind after all............... Love to get down and will take ya up on that offer someday soon, and keep duckin on the swings! Al P.

That fish is crazy. I got my best smallie with you guys I will never forget that trip the next day. Between Coleman, myself and Rob we got 200 smallies. Got tired of catching 5lb smallies that we said fork the net!! LOL. We couldn't show you 1/3rd of that here even on our best day. That was crazy... and here's the group pic

You big southern guys(well, and the Rob the Eastner, that probably wishes he was a southner) make those brown fish look like tiny minners!!! Yup, good times Mike! Glad you guys could make it. I still can hear you and Ryan yellin 'spot sticker'(thought it was 'pot licker' at first....) from boat to boat, Erie fish sure liked 'em, and sure liked you guys to. You ever get back? I usually fly back for a Nov. poke at em(now that's real good deep water structure fishin, no matter where ya come from)...........but missed this year, up near Alaska chasing them 'shiny' fish instead....just to get ya going, and the gears spinnin, Strub'y and I set a lake record there a couple trips ago one blustery mid Nov. day, weighed in 5 smallies for 29.68 lbs....ever culled a 5-14 smallie before??? Sure blew me away... Is it really 3am down - over there? What the heck ya doing up this late, hopefully gettin ready to fish some big spots! Reading through the site, some good stuff there man, thanks! Al P.

Thanks, good fight iffin I recall right, braid and 13lb flouro leader, can steer 'em pretty good, I do know that I didn't 'crane' that one into the boat! Poked it off the graph in 35 FOW on a salty tube jig. Weight? I never got a weight on 'er, no scale in the boat ......caught more mid-high 6's then one could imagine, and a couple just nudgin over 7( including a 7-1 on a photo shoot with BPS on Erie), I think I have a reasonably good grasp on smallie weights...pretty confident this one was a personal best for me, I would put it in the lower/mid 7 range, it was a girthy, solid brick of a fish, feeding heavily on Kokanee salmon..again this was not an Erie or Simcoe fish, it was out here on the West coast of CAN, trout country, there aren't supposed to be bass out here (just showin Mike I wasn't totally crazy moving out here) Good taste in rods Bob, those Shimano Crucials are nice sticks for the dollar, and they seem to stand up to a good beatin in the rod locker. I really like to use the heavier 7'-2" drop shot as a jig rod.
