Any ideas on replacing the water pump on a Johnson 115? It's peeing water fine but I don't have a pressure guage on my boat to know what PSI I am getting. I bought the boat new in 04 and have not had it reaplced as of yet.
I think this is something I can do myself but wanted some opinions.

It was recommended to me to replace every other year to be on the safe side by Bay Marine.

dells, I would STRONGLY suggest you replace your water pump LOL. ALl it takes is one time for it to go bad and you'll blow. Those impellers get brittle and it doesn't take long for it to stop getting pressure. Be careful!!

Mike is right on the water pump. I got my boat from my father and he had never put a pump in the motor for 16 years, got the boat new, still worked good but was in bad need of one. 150 mercury, the water pump is rubber on this motor. I replace mine every year and gear fluids. hounddog

3 years for weekend warriors is average for a waterpump. With a waterpressure gauge you WILL know when it's getting time!!
