Water Temp 48 to 53
Water Clarity: rancid yohoo
Water Level: .67 below full pool
The vast majority of the lake is either very muddy or very stained from one end to the other due to the recent rains. The creeks are horrible so bad that you can track a deer across it. LOL. I've been fishing quite a bit more recently since the weather has been more stable. Fishing is starting to pick up. If you want the best bite for decent numbers the dropshot is doing pretty good on small baits. Tiny Bass Assasins, Tiny Flukes, Baby Sluggos, Yamamoto Yamaminnow type baits are working well. I'm using a 1/4 oz Quickdrop dropshot sinker and 8lb fluoro with a Gamakatsu dropshot/splitshot hook and I'm pitching it to steeper banks and working it slowly toward the boat. Small micro jigs are also doing good if jigs are your thing.
But if you want size they are definitely biting, but you gotta work your tail off for them. I'm rotating through 3 different swimbaits. 8 inch Bull Shad in Gizzard color, Huddleston ROF 16 Trout color and 8 inch Triple Trout in Shiner color. I feel that the bigger swimbaits move a ton of water and give off alot of vibration to help the fish find it in the muddy water conditions that we have. I'm catching some working it very slow bottom bouncing and a few on just a medium steady retrieve. I don't catch many fish but the ones I do catch have been quality. It's a very painful bite but it's the only thing I have that is consistant with big fish right now and it will only get better as the water clears and the temps get into the upper 50's.. I would prefer us to clear up some but you have to play the hand that you are dealt. Here are a pair of 5lb spots. Thanks to Laugh44 to helping me take pics. Sorry Scott the ones you took were blurry due to the sun.
