Good morning everyone, I've been following this forum for a while now and decided to join. I've been fishing local area lakes around Cobb all my life but not seriously until recently. I just bought a used... really used Jon boat 12 1/2" and have a 30lb thrust trolling motor on it. I've only gotten to use it once and that didn't last long... wife dropped the truck keys off the side so I spent the whole time traveling across Antioch Lake (Rocky Mountain PFA) to find a phone that worked out there. LOL. Anyway, I have 2 kids (5 and 3) who love to fish with me. My oldest won the Cobb County Kids Fishing Rodeo Big Fish back in July. I'm interested in doing more fishing and maybe even doing some tournaments as a co-angler. Due to the economy and being a one income family (mine) I don't have much money to spare on monthly dues and stuff like that. I really like fishing Allatoona and did pretty well a few weeks ago on a rented pontoon boat. Hooked into 5 and landed 3 of them All spots in the 10-15" range. Anyway, hope to talk to everyone and get some local places to fish that I can use my little boat on. Maybe we can join up and fish a tourney together.

Me: Trolling with big baits:) 90% of fish are in 10% of the water. Find 'em by trolling!

Welcome sashill. I live in Cobb County too. The guys on this forum sure have helped me out a lot and I know they will all be a big help to you. Your story about losing the truck keys needs to go in the "Mistakes I've made a few" thread! Posting things like that might help the new guys on here (like me) to realize they should start wearing a spare key on a string around their neck when they go out on the water. -- If you haven't fished Acworth Lake yet, give it a try. It's an electric motor only area. I caught a few decent size spots and a pretty good sized white bass out of that lake fishing it from a kayak. Try trolling with a chartreuse or white spinner bait or a white super fluke Jr. in the evenings along the shoreline that borders the golf course. In the morning, white or chartreuse buzzbaits will work too.
