Question about Jack Plate

;D Anyone know the aprox difference in cost to put a fixed JP versus a hydraulic JP. Have been told that a 10" setback is maximum. What advantage does a 10" JP have over say a 6" JP.
Have read some about a slidemaster. Who would you recommend for the two types of Jack Plates.

3 types of jackplates.

Hydraulic
Fixed
Manually Adjustable

Hydraulic can be moved within the boat without any adjusting with wrenches etc.
Fixed is basically what is says..can't move up or down
Manually, which is the most popular, you can move the plate up and down with a few turns of a wrench.

The sizes vary. I think there is actually a 4". 6" and 8" are the most popular, depending on your application. There is also a 10".

You just need to check with your boat manufacturer on the size that is best for your boat. Triton recommends an 8" on most of the newer boats 04-up.

Thanks for the info, I have a Ranger Z-19 with 225 Mercury. Will call Ranger also to discuss. With your help maybe I can narrow down to what I need. Thanks a lot. Richard
