If a picture is worth 1000 words, then being there is worth 1000 pictures. Day 4 of recovery efforts are underway. Please say a prayer for those that were lost this last week and also for those who are now in need.

I returned home earlier today after 6 long days of restoring power in Alabama. It never ceases to amaze me as to the devotion and commitment of linemen and engineers from across the country to pitch in and get a job done under the worst of circumstances. I ended up being deverted to Jasper, Alabama on my way to Tuscaloosa last Thursday morning. I spent the first 3 days patroling circuits to and around Smith Lake and then to the outlying area of Jasper and finally to Parrish. Smith Lake had minimal damage and is indeed a beutiful lake, that I would love to fish one day. Jasper had scattered damage but the entire town and outlying area was off line until late Saturday due to the transmisssion lines feeding the substations being down. Parrish was hit fairly hard with much damage that kept us busy until late last night. Several towns in the Northwest corner of Alabama were completely desimated such as Hackleburg, Phil Campbell, Haleyville, Cordova and Cullman just to name a few. I was somewhat lucky this trip as I did not draw an area with mass destruction, but I have seen enough of that in my life in the trade. But even where I was at there are still people in need, so I ask that you keep all of those in Alabama dealing with the results of last weeks tornados in your thoughts and prayers. As well as all of the linemen and power company personell who may be spending today and tommorrow traveling home. I met line personell from as far west as Kansas, as far north as Michigan's upper penninsula and as far northeast as Conneticutt.
Once again it is just good to be home and know that my family is safe and has a roof over their head. Thank you for all of the prayers for my safe return.

I have a few friends from Cullman area and have been keeping in touch with them. Amazing the raw power of a tornado. I grew up in coastal South Mississippi and have weathered many hurricanes but they are nothing compared to the damage from a Tornado.
