Good Morning! Registered on the site a couple weeks back and just been doing a lot of reading trying to figure out how to catch ANYTHING on Allatoona. Hoping I can learn from you guys to crack the code.
I've tried chicken liver, stink bait, and those packaged baby shad on the bottom up the Etowah and haven't even gotton a bite. I would have thought I'd at least got a cat. (probably 8 trips)
Last night I tried a couple points, secondary points, and a fish attractor on Stamp with a fluke on drop shot but no bites there either. (only 1 trip)
There are too many reports out there of folks catching fish and other anglers I speak with on the the lake aren't getting skunked so it can't be the lake's fault.
I've done a bit of LMB fishing down in Florida but from reading about the spots up here, it seems like that experience isn't good for much on Allatoona. I'd really like to learn how/where to fish for the spots and am thinking that a guide might be my shortest path to getting the hang of it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks! Troy

First of all if it hasn't been done already, WELCOME to the forum! LOL! Troy, I moved over from Texas back in 2007 and all I can tell you is that Allatoona ain't Florida! I have never catfished the lake so I can't help ya there. Get familiar with the shakey head techniques, get some Zoom finesse worms in Green Pumpkin, or Watermelon Candy, and a bottle of chartreuse "spike it" or JJ's and dip the tail (about 1/2") and throw it anywhere you can, points, pockets, bluff walls, rock piles, reefs, etc. You will at least catch fish. If you are good with jigs and c-rigs those work too, as does Crankbaits and spinnerbaits, but require a little more knowledge of the lake. The info I gave you will get you started though. The rest of it will depend on the time on the water.

Thanks Bob!
I'll give that a shot. How about time of day? Are most catches coming sun up and sunset or is the rest of the day decent?
I've seen several comments about dying worms, not familiar with it but I'll do some looking around on the internet.
Thanks again Troy

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I've been fishing with the worm/dye/jig you suggested and have had some success. Not catching any monsters but not getting skunked either. Appreciate the help! ;D

I c-rig a lot and dye tails and at the hook with garlic chartreuse. Sometime they swim off with it and sometime they hit it hard and other time you will get a tick. It good to have you on the Forum.

LOL, smokin WHAT ;D, i know ya have buddy, those were some monsters spots you had, you must have had almost 18 lbs with just 4 fish at Carters. We didn't mean to bust the thread here on our new member. To our new member-Mr Bob and Harry gave some great advice for Allatoona, pretty much stick with green worms when you throw plastics and you will catch fish, small finesse jigs in green pumlkin and water melon seed do well on Toona also, best of luck to you and once again welcome. Mo ;D
