North Cobb still has openings left for New Members, both Boater and Non boater. The next couple of months would be a good time to come check us out and /or join so you can be voted in by January 2015 for the start of a new season. Meetings are the First Monday of the Month at The Rib Ranch on Canton Highway in Marietta. Start about 7 and last about hour to 90 minutes. www.northcobbbassclub.com for more info

I'm interested, but I've heard that if you're a boater and you don't draw a Co angler you have to pair up with another boater?

Thank you. I understand it for safety, I'm just not a fan of entering as a boater and having to be a Co angler due to the draw. Could really make or break an angler points wise. Please keep me posted on the out come. Thank you.

Very good club, only thing that kept me from coming back to this club is the tournament draw format, drawing with another boater. Otherwise a good club, good folks & fun club.

Although this could happen, it doesn't happen at North Cobb much at all. We have several boaters who don't mind going as a non boater. Worst case scenario, you invite a friend and have them go with you as a guest. For obvious safety reasons, we make every effort to pair up boaters with partners. This past year, we've had a couple instances where guy's accidentally fell into the water or had boat problems and it could have been pretty serious, had there not been a partner. Safety is our #1 priority.
There is a guy who fishes Lake Lanier who owes his life to two of our members. His small boat capsized and the weight of his cold weather clothing was pulling him under. Two of our members heard him yelling for help and drove their boat over to pull him out of the water. Just as they reached him and grabbed his hand to pull him out of the water, he looked up at them and said "thanks for helping, I was about to give up." "About to give up," let those words sink in for a minute....it took both of our members to get him out of the water.
My name is Scott McConnell and I have been a member of North Cobb Bass for 3 years now.

Did the rule ever change that if a new member you have to ride in the back of a boat with someone for 2 tournaments until you're allowed to be a boater? I saw that in 2012 it was supposed to be implemented according to the posts awhile back. Can anyone verify this?

If you have a boat and want to join our club, you can bring your boat, provided you have the required insurance, and you will be paired up with a non boater who is a club member. In other words, you as a guest will not be paired with another guest, you will be paired with a member. We do this for two tournaments. If after the second tournament you decide that you want to be a member of this club, the club will vote on accepting you and your in. This is provided that the two members that you fished with have positive feedback for the membership about you ie; you didn't operate your boat in a reckless manner, you didn't drink beer on the boat, you didn't throw your trash in the lake, etc.
Once a guest has been voted on and accepted by the membership, the points that they acquired during their first two "guest" tournaments will be counted towards their end of season/top six points. Then you pay your $25 a month member dues.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to call me @ 7-598-8609. Thanks, Scott McConnell.

I was thinking about joining, but agree with Mikes, could seriously destroy your point standings fishing from the back of the boat in one tournament. Not ideal!
